How to play Rewind
Rewind is a game for everyone who ever rewound a cassette with a pencil. Find the start of the song on the tape counter – without chewing the tape.
Controls
- Phone: press and hold anywhere to spin the pencil, let go to stop pushing.
- Computer: hold the mouse button or the space bar.
Rules
- The card shows which song to find and the counter number where it starts, and whether you rewind (◀◀) or fast forward (▶▶).
- Holding speeds the pencil up. When you let go, the spools keep turning and slow down gradually – let go before the target. You can push again while it is still turning.
- When the spools stop, your result is counted: within 2 counts is spot on (3 points), within 6 close (2), within 14 okay (1). Three spot-on stops in a row give a bonus point each.
- Further away – or spinning so fast that the tension needle reaches red and the tape gets chewed – costs one of 3 cassettes.
Getting harder
The fuller the spool with the pencil, the faster the counter runs – just like on a real tape. With every song the spools coast longer and the tape strains sooner. The starting settings adapt to how well you play.
Pause and ads
Use the pause button at the top during a run. After a good run you can watch an optional video once to get a fresh cassette. Sometimes a short ad appears between runs, never during play.
