How to play Golden Ratio
Golden Ratio is a game about proportions for architects and designers. A rectangle grows on the paper – stop it at exactly the proportion shown, by eye.
Controls
- Phone: tap anywhere to stop the rectangle.
- Computer: click, or press the space bar.
Proportions
- 1 : 1.618 – the golden ratio,
- 1 : √2 – the A-series paper sheet (A4),
- 1 : 1 – square, 1 : 2 – double square,
- 3 : 4, 2 : 3 and 9 : 16 – classic photo, 35 mm film and widescreen.
Points
- Error up to 1.5% – perfect, 3 points; up to 3.5% – good, 2 points; up to 7% – okay, 1 point.
- Three perfect rectangles in a row give a bonus point for each next perfect one.
- A bigger error costs one of 3 lives. When they are gone, the run ends.
After each tap you see the exact shape as a blue dashed outline, with the regulating diagonals – and for the golden ratio, the golden spiral.
Getting harder
The first rectangles are all golden. Then the other proportions join in, the rectangle grows faster and sometimes upwards. The starting speed adapts to how well you play.
Pause and ads
Use the pause button at the top during a run. After a good run you can watch an optional video once for an extra life. Sometimes a short ad appears between runs, never during play.
